Neuralink, a company focusing on neurotechnology founded by Tesla and Space X boss Elon Musk. Musk founded this company back in 2016 but publicly announced only in 2017. When the company was publicly announced by Elon back in 2017, Musk stated that the company is focusing on treating serious brain diseases. Based on information by Bloomberg, since the company’s public announcement, Elon had hired several high-profile neuroscientists.
The science-fiction concept of “neural lace” was Elon’s inspiration to founding Neuralink. The main goal of Musk and his team at Neuralink is to achieve symbiosis with artificial intelligence ( AI ). This is because Musk believes artificial intelligence will be a threat to humanity if not monitored consistently and thoroughly.

- Neuralink will allow users to directly stream music
- Has the ability to control brain signals responsible for several human activities and its functioning such as restoring eyesight, hearing, and limb movement in addition to addressing diseases that affect the brain.
- Public announcement scheduled for the 28th of August
Information about Neuralink’s progress and future projects have not been discussed in public. The company held just a single presentation back in 2019. Yet Elon Musk has been dropping details regarding his mysterious startup Neuralink on Twitter over the past few days.

Dropping hints on Twitter
Replying to Austin Howard on twitter, Musk confirmed that the Neuralink brain chip will allow users to ‘listen to music directly from our [Neuralink brain] chips’. Musk also stated that Neuralink’s cutting edge technology will help control hormone levels. This will be a major breakthrough in technology as this will assist in enhanced abilities, powerful reasoning and anxiety relief.
In fact back in 2019 during Neuralink’s only public presentation up to date, Elon Musk stated the company is working on a “sewing machine like device” to connect the computer with a chip inserted to your brain. This left everyone in awe and suspense as to what Elon stated. Accordingly Musk stated that in order to have the Neuralink chip fitted, users will have to undergo a process similar to laser eye surgery. A neurosurgical robot carries out the process by fitting flexible threads inside the brain. In 2019 Elon reffered to this neurosurgical robot as the “sewing machine like device”
How will mankind benefit from Neuralink other than streaming music directly to your brain
Subsequently, another twitter user asked Elon “Can Neuralink be used to retrain the part of the brain which is responsible for causing addiction or depression? It’d be great if Neuralink can be used for something like addiction/ depression.” Responding to this question Musk stated that Neuralink has the potential to help people with Parkinson’s, ‘brain injuries/autism/ALS even depression and addiction. As a whole Neuralink will be able to control the parts of the brain that require calibration.
The sky is the limit for Neuralink! This can be one of the greatest technological breakthroughs of mankind. As Elon stated that the possibilities and the abilities of Neuralink are endless as this latest piece of tech will solve several problems humans face at present.
Quoting Elon Musk, “This is both great and terrifying. Everything we’ve ever sensed or thought has been electrical signals. The early universe was just a soup of quarks and leptons. How did a very small piece of the universe start to think of itself as sentient?”
Neuralink will have the ability to control electric signals responsible for several human activities and its functioning such as restoring eyesight, hearing, and limb movement as well as addressing diseases that affect the brain.
Above all the world awaits until the 28th of August particularly as Neuralink and Musk have scheduled to have a public presentation about this great feat of technology. Stayed tuned for more information on Elon Musk’s Neuralink.
