Finally it’s official ! The friends reunion release date is here. The all awaited Friends Reunion is set to stream on HBO MAX on Thursday the 27th of May. Lisa Kudrow who plays the role of Phoebe said “”It is not a reboot, it is not like a scripted thing, we are not portraying our characters,” she said. They all were on a break, but soon it will be over. It is official, the friends cast reunion special ” the one where they all got back together” is happening. After more than 15 years of begging for reunions the release date for “the one where they got back together” is HERE ! “Friends” fans are finally having their day, their week, their month and maybe even their year. The original cast will officially end its break for a reunion special this spring, WarnerMedia confirmed Friday and is set to air on HBO max. All six Friends are coming back together for the ‘Reunion’ special after almost 16 years, when the last episode ‘The Last One’ aired on May 6, 2004.
With several delays due to the global pandemic the most anticipated Friends Reunion has been postponed. With the latest update we hope all the filming will be completed by the beginning of April 2021. That said done we hope the Friends Reunion release date will be somewhere in early May. DAILY UPDATE : MARCH 06 2021 – David Schwimmer told Andy Cohen he and the entire “Friends” gang will be reuniting shortly. Schwimmer said, “Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to L.A. Finally! We figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of safety protocols.

The streaming wars have allowed the iconic show “Friends” to live on far past its final episode back in 2004. Initially back in 2015 the sitcom was planned to be a fixture on Netflix. But in early 2020 after the initial release date the streaming service pivoted to HBO Max.
For this special episode of the Friends Reunion all six stars of the sitcom will be appearing on HBO Max to reunite with an unscripted special by the name of “the one where they all got back together” which all the fans have been eagerly waiting for. The Friends reunion was originally scheduled to shoot in March and the Friends Reunion release date was supposed to be in May but it has been delayed due to the pandemic. However, David Schwimmer who played the character of Ross Geller has an update about the reunion.
- The unscripted special was originally going to be available at the launch of HBO Max in May 2020, but got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

UPDATE : APRIL 07 2021 – Ben Winston stated that the FRIENDS REUNION ” The one where they got back together ” will begin filming with the entire crew on the 5th of April. Based on this information we fans hope the FRIENDS REUNION we’ve all be waiting for will be airing on HBO MAX in mid May 2021

HBO max is still uncertain about the Friends Reunion release date and is still yet to announce the official date. Originally, it was supposed to be filmed over two days in late March 2020 and air on HBO Max in May for the streaming service’s debut. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the project was temporarily put on hold.

Initially the Friends Reunion was rumored to happen in August. “It’s supposed to happen maybe in August, the middle august, but honestly, we’re going to wait and see another week or two of we all determine it’s safe enough to do,” Schwimmer said in an appearance on “The tonight show” with Jimmy Fallon.
The reunion includes all six cast members, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Leblanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer as well as the co-creators, Marta Kauffman and David Krane. This will be the first time the entire cast is back together on screen since the show wrapped up in 2004.
Rumors and hints about the Friends reunion ‘the one where they got back together
14th January 2021 – Lisa Kudrow who played the eclectic Phoebe Buffay said that she and her costars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer — have already shot some scenes for the reunion.
The Friends Star also went on to state that “”There’s different facets to it, and we already shot packages of things,” she told Lowe. “I pre-shot something already so we’re definitely doing it, because I already shot a little something.”
She added: “It’s us getting together which doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004, when we stopped.”
What to expect from the one where they got back together?
Reunion at Central Perk
Since HBO Max is hosting this episode at the original soundstage on the Warner Bros. lot, it would not be too clique to expect that they all will return to the original Central Perk set or at least a familiar set. It would be thrilling to see how Central Perk evolved through the years and how it would look like in 2021.

A glimpse of unseen and unknown
The friends cast have always been pretty open about their memorable stories related to the show. They loved sharing with about them on various platforms whenever they had the opportunity. With the recent throwback photos on social media, we could see them sharing more and more behind the scene glimpses, blooper videos and photos we have never seen before.
What happened after “The One Where They Say Goodbye”?
The last one – Part 2 certainly had a great ending to the all-time favorite sitcom, but it also left most of us with so many questions which we desperately waiting for the answers. We all are curious about what happened to all the characters after they strolled out of the beloved purple apartment.
Did Rachel and Ross get married again after they finally got back together in the final episode? Are the Bing babies best friends with Emma and triplets? Did Joey ever find a life-partner? We still need to know whether Joey settled in LA for good in conjunction with events of the TV show “Joey” which reprised the role of Joey Tribbiani or did he ever move back to Brooklyn to be in touch with rest of the friends? And, did Phoebe and Mike ever have a bunch of babies as they anticipated apart from the rat babies they had? These are few of the things the fans need to know.

We all could agree the reunion would not be the complete if there was not a Phoebe’s performance. We hope Lisa Kudrow will perform “smelly cat” one more time for her fans.
Guest appearance of a common friend
We would love to see the cast reconnecting with some of the supporting characters who made a great impact to the show, such as Janice (Maggie Wheeler), Gunther (James Michael Tyler), Mike (Paul Rudd) or even Jill (Reese Witherspoon). Undoubtedly, they will bring more joy to the event.
Kids of the friends
As much as we love all the characters, we adore all their kids. We came to the surprising realization that baby Emma turned 18 in fictional terms. What was her reaction to the birthday video all the friends made for on her 1st birthday? Who aren’t keen to see how Ben Geller, Jack & Erica Bing and Leslie, Chandler (the girl version) and Frank Jr. Jr. have grown up?
Questionnaire
It would be fun to see how the friends cast engaged in a game to reminisce and also to see after 16 years. Whether they are as good friends as they used to be. Also to have a final debate to settle over whether Ross and Rachel were really on a break?
Hopefully, with all the social distancing safety measurements, the production will commence the shooting of eagerly awaited friends reunion and soon we will be able to watch our favorite stars on screen together.
