Ellen DeGeneres; A dual personality?One on-air, another behind the set.
Ellen DeGeneres has built her worldwide,multimillion-dollar brand on the motto “be kind”, with sumptuous giveaways and acts of charity together with kindness. However, a shocking revelation was made by her current and former employees on her famous reality show. Where they pointed out that they faced racism, fear, and intimidation.
Thus one could state that her generosity was merely an act which has continued to fool millions and millions of people around the world. This was especially pointed by one of her former employees as follows “That ‘be kind’ bullshit only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for the show”. Another employee went on to say that even though money is being given to the people and to help them out with they’re life’s but in the end, it’s all for the show.
It was also revealed that some of the employees were fired after taking medical leave or bereavement days to attend family funerals. One employee, who claims she was fed up with comments about her race, essentially which led to her leaving the job. Others said they were asked to refrain from talking to Ellen DeGeneres if they saw her around the office.
Nevertheless, despite the numerous claims by several employees, it is held that the executive producers and other senior managers for the day-to-day toxicity are responsible for the bad environment in the show. In spite of this, it is quite clear Ellen being the main personality in the show. She really needs to take more responsibility for the various claims made by the former employees.
At the same time, executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner stated that they would take the stories of the employees very seriously. And pointed out that over the course of nearly two decades,3000 episodes, and employing over 1000 staff members. They have strived to create an open, safe, and inclusive workplace for all its staff members.
They also stated that they were truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience. Finally taking into account the allegations and the response made by the producers it can be concluded that the crew surrounding Ellen definitely don’t practice what they preach with the ‘be kind’ mantra” However, this is not the first time The Ellen show staff have spoken out against the show.
