As of recent Tiktok was swarmed with videos of a young boy called Cameron Herrin. Videos went viral went 21 year old Cameron Herrin was sentenced to 24 years in prison. This was due to an accident that occurred in 2018 in Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida. Many Tiktok users were showing sympathy towards Cameron Herrin solely based on his good looks. This condition is known as HYBRISTOPHILIA.

Why was Cameron Herrin sentenced to 24 years ?

Cameron Herrin was found guilty for speeding along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida that ultimately ended up killing a mother and her baby when he crashed into them in the incident. 21 year old Herrin was racing a friend in his Ford Mustang on May 23, 2018, while Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt, 24, and her 1-year-old daughter, Lillia, were crossing a Tampa street. Herrin’s friend managed to swerve out of the way, but Herrin swerved into Jessica and Lillia, killing both of them. What is HYBRISTOPHILIA ?

Hybristophilia also sometimes referred to as the ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ syndrome in simple terms is the sexual attraction and interest towards people who commit extreme crimes.

Wikipedia also defines this term as “a paraphilia in which sexual arousal, facilitation, and attainment of orgasm are responsive to and contingent upon being with a partner known to have committed a crime”

Cameron Herrin’s sentence to prison actually exposed many people on social media suffering from HYBRISTOPHILIA. Especially social media platform Tiktok was swarmed with people showing sympathy towards Cameron. Many called out the disgusting remarks by certain commenters on TikTok that overlook the crime he did, simply because of his good looks.
