A quick brief on the all new Canon mirrorless cameras, the EOS R5 and R6

After much anticipation and several rumors within the past two months, Canon have officially unveiled their flagship mirrorless cameras the EOS R5 and EOS R6. The Canon EOS R5 has a body-only price of $3,899 / £4,199, while the Canon EOS R6 is significantly more affordable at $2,499 / £2,499. Both cameras can be purchased in August 2020. Both cameras come with the Canon DIGIC X imaging processor and in camera body image stabilization.

The Canon EOS R5 boasts a brand new Canon made 45MP CMOS sensor together with the brilliant DIgic X processor as seen in the 1DX Mark III. These allow the R5 to capture 8K RAW video at up to 30p, 10-bit 4:2:2: 4K at up to 120p, and full-resolution images at up to 20fps with the electronic shutter or 12fps with the mechanical shutter—all internally, without any sort of a crop or focus limitations

In body image stabilization, a brand new feature introduced to Canon cameras is has been implemented for the first time in the EOS R5. Build to work together with the in-lens stabilization found on some RF-mount lenses, the system reportedly provides “up to 8 stops” of shake correction

It’s weather sealed for outdoor shooting in a range of conditions, and has two card slots, including one CF express slot and one SD card slot.

The EOS R6 is based around the 20.1MP CMOS sensor from the 1D X Mark III and the same Digic X processor found in the EOS R5 and 1D X. This allows the R6 to shoot 10-bit 4:2:2 4K video up to 60p, 1080/120p slow motion, and full-res stills at 20fps using the electronic shutter or 12fps using the mechanical shutter

The EOS R6 also possess two card slots similar to the R5.

Along with the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras, the company has also launched a series of lenses , including the RF 85 mm F2 Macro IS STM, RF 600 mm F11 IS STM, RF 800 mm F11 IS STM, RF 100-500 mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM, Extender RF1.4X & RF2X.
